A trip to Tibet

Travel equipment

1 People who travel completely with a group usually only need to bring enough cash for airport construction and personal shopping. If you are a backpacker on a self-help tour, it is recommended to get a postal green card and carry enough cash with you to meet the transportation expenses and accommodation and catering expenses, so that you can sit back and relax all the way. After arriving safely in Lhasa, you can go to the post office next to Potala Palace to withdraw the remaining money.

Someone once said that in Tibet, you accidentally dropped your camera on the ground, picked it up and found that you accidentally took a photo. What you didn't expect was that one day, even this photo taken unintentionally won an award in a photo contest somewhere. Therefore, photography may also be a major part of tourism in Tibet.

But before you leave, please note:

Shoot as many films as possible: avoid buying in Lhasa, not only because of the price, but also to ensure that the films you buy are authentic.

Bring more spare batteries: because the low temperature in Tibet will reduce the service life of batteries; For cameras, the main problem is charging, and there is no problem in Lhasa and several larger cities. But when you walk or explore a town or village, it is hard to say.

Be sure to respect your subject when shooting, and you can prepare some small gifts for your subject; You must ask the Lama's permission to take pictures in the temple.

If you bring a digital camera, remember to bring a larger memory or a digital companion. Tibet can't be sent away with three or four rolls of film, and it's not convenient to surf the Internet except Lhasa and Shigatse.

ID card: For China citizens, the ID card is of course indispensable.

Border Pass: Those who plan to go to the border areas need to apply for border passes in advance.

Passport: It is better to have a walking passport. If you go to the border area, you can also waive the border pass. If you want to change your itinerary and go to Nepal, you can also apply for a visa at the Nepalese Consulate in Lhasa.

Student ID: You can try and see if you can save some tickets.

At present, there are only three banks in Tibet, namely Bank of China, Agricultural Bank and China Construction Bank, and the network connection is not stable. Don't take thin credit cards with you.

Because of the high altitude, thin atmosphere, strong solar radiation and particularly strong ultraviolet rays in Tibet, sunglasses are essential small pieces. It should be noted that not all sunglasses are suitable. Choose sunglasses with ultraviolet filtering function, and it is best to choose sunglasses with 100% ultraviolet protection clearly marked on the label. In addition, we should pay attention to the choice of sunglasses with wide frames, which can not only block the light more comprehensively, but also prevent the sunlight from reflecting into our eyes. Sunglasses are not a "patent" for adults. We advise parents to prepare their own sunglasses for their babies before leaving.

Even if it's not for beauty, we suggest you take sunscreen with you to avoid sunburn caused by long-term intense sunlight. And the sun protection factor (SPF) is above 15.

Lips are actually very delicate, and strong sunlight can easily make lips dry. So bring a UV lip balm, if you don't want the smile in the photo to be distorted.

Due to the large temperature difference, sweaters and coats can be worn all year round in Tibet, and thin pants can be prepared at the same time in summer. If you travel around Lhasa in summer, such as Zedang and Shigatse, you don't need down jackets. But if you go to Everest, Namtso and Ali, you must also prepare a down jacket.

9 Other personal hygiene products

Towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, skin care products, wet tissues. Female travelers should also bring enough physical and health products, because due to the plateau climate and travel fatigue, women's physiological cycle is often chaotic.

10 Other project recommendation index

Sunshade: It not only plays the role of sun protection, but also plays a more important role on the road. In Tibet, which is sparsely populated, there are few public toilets, or "green toilets" everywhere, so portable folding umbrellas can come in handy at critical moments.

Flashlights and spare batteries: If you want to appreciate the Buddha statues or murals in various temples, flashlights are also essential, because the light in temples is usually dim. In addition, power supply in some remote places is not good.

Shading: Tibet is not only strong in ultraviolet rays, but also windy in mountain passes. A hat with a wide brim must be right.
