What eggs does the mainland group pop up to start the intelligent journey?

[car home? The continuous urbanization process is changing the way we travel. It is predicted that there will be more than 220 cities with a population of over one million in China in 2025; Another research data shows that in this process, environmental pollution, urban congestion and travel efficiency will become huge challenges in the future, which is also an urgent problem to be solved in building smart travel in the future.

Travel is no longer a simple independent application from point A to point B, but an application scenario that requires service interaction and needs to be realized through different systems. As an international parts giant, Continental is well aware of this. 165438+1On October 20th, the car networking and information business group of Continental Group held a media round table, and shared the interconnection solutions of "car and car", "car and road", "car and things" and "car and cloud".

According to the data of IHS, 55% of the newly produced cars in the world in 20 18 have realized the interconnection function, which will increase to 75% in 2022 and 85% in 2025. This means that in the next 10 year, vehicle interconnection will become the standard configuration in the global market, and networking technology will become an important driving force for smart travel in the future.

How to achieve smart travel? Jing Ming, the person in charge of car networking and informatization in China of Continental Group and the head of car networking business department in Asia, said: "Industrial layout is a systematic project. Only by integrating smart cars, smart roads and clouds can we become a complete intelligent travel ecosystem. "

■ The new E/E architecture creates a "smart" car.

Electronic and electrical architecture (E/E architecture) is a necessary condition for cars to become "intelligent".

In recent years, with the intelligentization of automobile industry, the traditional E/E architecture has been severely challenged. First of all, Tesla took the lead in launching a new generation of centralized E/E architecture. Later, mainland China, Bosch, Amber, Huawei and other suppliers all emphasized that the E/E architecture should change from distributed to centralized.

"In the past, 85% of a car was hardware, and the software code will grow from 20 15 million lines to hundreds of millions of lines in 2025. Traditional architecture cannot meet the requirements of current intelligent interconnection. " Jing Ming said this.

In Continental's view, the birth of server-oriented architecture is a natural thing. Based on this, Continental has developed a high-performance computing unit, which is also the core element of the transition to a service-oriented electronic architecture. It is like a central data hub, connecting vehicles and the digital world.

At present, this high-performance computing unit has been installed on Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4 for the first time. This product is also the world's first brand-new electronic and electrical architecture project for mass production.

In the future, Volkswagen can install new software and OTA upgrade at any time through wireless network connection, and can also provide functions such as optimal cruising range route planning.

With the new "DNA", cars have the basis to "talk" to each other on the road. In this regard, Continental launched the latest V2X platform to connect cars.

It is reported that 25 years ago, Continental Group developed 2G interconnection communication products, and then mass-produced 3G and 4G products. At present, 4.5G and 5G versions of communication modules are being studied, which meet two international technical schemes: DSRC (Dedicated Short Distance Communication) and C-V2X (V2X based on cellular network).

Today, 30 million cars have been equipped with Continental's interconnected communication products. The 5G hybrid V2X platform is no longer just a connection port with the outside world, but a key element of highly interconnected vehicles, which can realize wireless update of vehicle software. This product will be provided to two European OEMs in 2023.

■ The interaction between people and cars is more temperature.

The rise of intelligent networked cars and the improvement of digital level also make the interaction between drivers and cars more frequent than before.

"Now the traffic in big cities has become more stereoscopic. When the car is driving on the overpass, it is difficult to clearly identify it through plane navigation, but with the 3D display, different levels of roads can be clearly displayed. " Hua, head of man-machine interface division of Continental China, introduced.

At the meeting, Continental Group shared the newly developed naked-eye 3D center console display. Special light field display technology allows passengers to provide naked-eye 4K resolution 3D experience without any special glasses or head tracking cameras.

In addition, the naked-eye 3D center console display screen provides the function of gesture interaction with holographic images for the first time, which not only allows drivers to operate blindly, but also brings a new holographic user experience to drivers and passengers.

This technology is inevitably reminiscent of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class released some time ago. The super-large organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display on the car is to realize naked-eye 3D display. But the difference is that Mercedes-Benz S-Class captures the position and distance of drivers' eyes when they look at the screen through the camera in the screen, and realizes different pixel combinations in different positions through system algorithms to achieve naked-eye 3D effect.

Hua said: "At present, there are few products on the market, and the basic viewing angle is only for drivers, so cameras are needed to help track the line of sight. However, our products do not need any auxiliary equipment, and not only the driver himself, the co-pilot passengers and the rear passengers can see very clear 3D images. "

According to reports, this product will be mass-produced in 2023, the cost is within the controllable range, and the OEM will not be "unattainable".

Another product that connects people and cars is the head-up display. According to statistics, about 80% of traffic accidents in the United States are caused by distraction, of which 16% will cause death.

The augmented reality head-up display can create a more intuitive way of human-computer interaction, and the driver can see all important information, including speed, alarm, navigation and so on, without looking down during driving. At present, there are more and more functions equipped with driver assistance systems on the market, and the augmented reality head-up display can be displayed more intuitively, such as lane departure alarm, adaptive navigation, virtual wall and other key driving information prompts earlier.

It is reported that Continental's augmented reality head-up display is based on optical waveguide technology, the projection distance is greater than 4.5m, covering the road surface within 40m, but the installation volume can be reduced by 60%-70%.

These technologies can make our interaction with cars enter a new stage.

■ Realize vehicle-road coordination through environmental awareness.

The essence of smart car is to realize intelligent transportation, so as to improve the overall traffic efficiency, safety factor and travel experience. Realize the coordination between vehicles and roads through environmental awareness, and let smart cars drive on intelligent roads.

"The expansion of vehicle-road coordination is inseparable from the efforts of open equipment. At present, the products we promote in the field of intelligent transportation with our partners in China include a complete set of solutions for sensor systems, data processing systems and network connections to support the three elements of intelligent transportation: perception, decision-making and interconnection. " Gu Wei, head of the Commercial Vehicle and Service Division in China, said.

These solutions have been implemented in Changsha, Hunan. Recently, Continental Group participated in the construction and deployment of roadside intelligent system of Changsha Smart Expressway, covering 28 kilometers.

It is reported that Continental Group has arranged radar and camera sensor groups at the upper and lower gates of expressways and highway sections to capture the vehicle status information at intersections and expressways in real time.

As we all know, Continental Group has strong market competitiveness in the field of millimeter-wave radar. What changes need to be made to switch the car experience to the roadside? "There are indeed some differences between the application of the car end and the roadside end. Roadside millimeter-wave radar is mainly based on the hardware of the vehicle, and the application software layer has been adjusted accordingly. For example, the roadside will require the radar to detect farther, including the identification angle. " Gu Wei told car home, "Since most roadside applications are in the testing stage, it is not recommended to completely develop a brand-new product platform at this stage."

In the Changsha project, Continental also injected artificial intelligence algorithm and IP into it, and the edge computing unit used the powerful multi-sensor fusion algorithm to analyze and process the data, and transmitted the information to the vehicles on the road through the roadside unit.

One of the functions is "car group detection", which can calculate the number of cars approaching the intersection to decide whether the green light time should be extended, so as to avoid unnecessary braking or acceleration by drivers. This data can also be used to adjust the timing of traffic lights between intersections, help improve traffic flow and reduce congestion and pollution.

According to reports, in addition to Changsha, the key pilot cities that Continental Group is currently cooperating with are Wuxi, Jiangsu, Hefei, Anhui, Chongqing and Jinan, Shandong.

In view of the high cost of hardware and software for roadside intelligent transportation deployment, how to realize commercialization is still a difficult problem. "After all, to truly popularize V2X, it must be laid nationwide. It is impossible to lay only one section, because the detection ability of radar or camera is limited. After laying on the roadside, we will get a lot of data based on software and practical applications, but how to realize the commercialization of data is still under discussion. " Gu Wei said.

At the same time, the mainland also found that a standard has not yet been formed in the industry, and in the process of negotiation and formulation, the scene of vehicle-road coordination in various cities belongs to the state of "letting a hundred flowers blossom".

Jing Ming said: "We look forward to the release of the real national standard, which is a real national standard, not an industry standard."

Summary:

To develop vehicle-road coordination, smart cars, smart roads and powerful clouds must be unified and indispensable. In building a smart road, many parties need to work together, among which the government is the key factor, and the road scene must also be standardized and standardized. At present, the city is in a state of "crossing the river by feeling the stones", while doing experiments and planning. Once it matures, Continental is confident to become the first country in the world to deploy V2X interaction in all directions. (Text/car home? Peng Fei)
