According to Rohinni’s official website, BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. and the American company Rohinni will form a joint venture to jointly produce ultra-thin micro LED solutions for display backlights.
The joint venture, controlled by BOE, will combine BOE’s next-generation LCD design and display capabilities and manufacturing expertise with Rohinni’s proprietary high-speed micro LED placement technology.
In addition, the new company will use Rohinni’s market-ready technology, which is three to five times faster than traditional pick-and-place processes and can place 50 chips per second with an accuracy of 10 micron, the yield rate of chips applied to consumer products is as high as 99.999.
Rohinni said its patented process allows manufacturers to mount micro-LEDs onto substrates at a speed and accuracy sufficient to support mass production requirements. Combining these speeds, precision and yield levels makes it the first economically viable process technology to take full advantage of the promise of Mini and MicroLED.
The joint venture will be based in China and will initially focus on large-size consumer electronics (using displays with a diagonal of 32 inches or more) as well as displays of different sizes in industrial, automotive and other markets.
The joint venture controlled by BOE will be able to bring Micro and Mini LED products to the market faster and more economically, and is expected to replace OLED.
