At the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, more than 600 competition lights in the Bird's Nest were all abandoned, and Zhang Yimou chose his own lights. Technology has entered the digital age, and the lighting effect has also transitioned to digital lights. This brand-new lighting effect has brought the scale and imagination of the stage effect of the Olympic opening ceremony to the extreme.
This Olympic Games used a digital lamp: PG lamp, that is, high-brightness projection lamp. Using the principle of optical projection and high brightness light source, the contents of the negative are projected to the ground in full color, which can form a very visual impact picture effect at night. During the performance of the opening ceremony, the large-scale picture scroll running through the center of the venue and the evolution animation from ancient times to modern times were successively displayed on the picture scroll, which were projected to the center of the venue by the PG lamp made in the early stage. The simplicity of black-and-white contrast of China ink painting, the splendor of western oil painting and the strong color of impressionism are all presented through this high-tech technology.
2. Light emitting diodes
LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a kind of semiconductor solid light emitting device, which uses solid semiconductor chip as light emitting material. When DC voltage is applied to both ends, the recombination of carriers in the semiconductor causes photon emission and produces light. LED can directly emit red, yellow, blue, green, cyan, orange, purple and white light.
In this Olympic Games, LED has been used to the maximum extent. The opening scroll opens on a huge LED screen. Screen length147m, width 22m. It is a huge platform with the highest technology content, with 44,000 LEDs on it. The light and shadow effects produced by LED are closely combined with the performance, which changes various patterns and brings the audience into a fantastic world. Moreover, after repeated tests, the LED can completely withstand the tests such as trampling and flooding by actors.
The "dream five rings" that rose into the air were also drawn by 45,000 LEDs on a large network. Even the actors' clothes are covered with LEDs. As the formation of the actors changed, the "Bird's Nest" reappeared on the stage. Although the whole opening ceremony took a long time, key technologies such as batteries solved the energy problem of LED.
3. Aluminum alloy materials
At the opening ceremony, a big hole was opened in the center of the stage, and a 6-story-high "earth" with a diameter of about 20 meters slowly rose from it. Where did such a big "soil" originally hide? It turns out that this "earth" was compressed into the ground first, that is, the spherical structure must be flexible. It is oval when it is placed on the ground, and it will become spherical when it is pulled up by the steel wire above.
After the lifting platform lifts the ball, the actor needs to perform on the front of the ball, so it must have strong stability after lifting to ensure the safety and effect of the performance. And all this depends on high-tech aluminum alloy photosensitive materials, so that the "earth" can be bent and stretched.
4. Multimedia
On the huge picture scroll, "birds" and "whales" fly and roam freely. How are these made? It turns out that the previous opening ceremony used slide projection technology, and this time it used various multimedia equipment. It can use computers to digitize text, graphics, images, animations, sounds, videos and other media information, and then integrate them into a certain interactive interface, thus creating a bowl-shaped screen of thousands of square meters at the top of the Bird's Nest, showing the clear picture of whales swimming freely and expressing the harmony between man and nature.
5. Digital ignition
Looking back at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, what surprised many people most was that 29 huge colorful footprints made of fireworks started from Yongdingmen, crossed Tiananmen Square, along the central axis of The Journey to the West, and finally reached the Bird's Nest of the National Stadium.
These 29 fireworks footprints opened the curtain of the 29th Olympic Games, symbolizing that the modern Olympic Games are coming to Beijing step by step and entering the Bird's Nest. The lighting of these 29 large footprints is controlled by computer system, using digital lighting. This technology can ignite all fireworks in a short time, ensuring that fireworks can cross 3.5 kilometers in just a few seconds. In addition, there are 22 launching points in the dragon-shaped water system next to the Bird's Nest. After digital control by computer, all fireworks bombs can be shot into the sky one by one, making the fireworks look like a dragon. Although the traditional fireworks are still used, after digital ignition, the fireworks have undergone new changes and produced different visual effects.
