Who invented mineral coatings?

1878 German chemist Adolf Kem invented silicate coating and obtained a patent for potassium silicate mineral coating. Potassium silicate mineral coatings have created the history of large-scale application of modern inorganic coatings.

Since 1950s and 1960s, the rapid development of petroleum-derived coatings and latex paints has greatly impacted the traditional inorganic coatings market with its low price, superior performance and rich colors.

At the end of the 20th century, with the improvement of silicate composite technology, inorganic coatings made breakthroughs in high hardness, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. Waterborne inorganic coatings have great potential in industry and special fields.
