On September 26, Jianghuai Automobile issued an announcement stating that the company and its holding subsidiaries received a total of 206 million government subsidies. JAC said that the above-mentioned subsidy funds will be included in the current profit and loss in 2020 and will have a positive impact on the company's profits in 2020.

This year, JAC has repeatedly disclosed announcements of government subsidies, which so far have been close to 800 million yuan.

The projects receiving subsidies this time include foreign trade promotion policy awards and subsidies, patent quota subsidies, research and development expense subsidies, etc. Among them, research and development expense subsidies accounted for more than 90%, accounting for 200 million yuan.

JAC’s 2020 semi-annual report shows that its operating income for the current period was 24.94 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7.6%; the net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was a loss of 150 million yuan, compared with 130 million yuan in the same period last year. A decrease of 217.8%.

In terms of operating costs, JAC Motors’ operating costs in the first half of the year were 23.6 billion yuan, a slight decrease of 1.6% year-on-year. Among them, research and development expenses for the current period were 430 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 18.9%, accounting for 1.7% of revenue.

JAC has plans to increase investment in research and development.

Anjin, chairman of JAC Motors, stated in August this year that 3%-5% of JAC’s annual revenue will be invested in research and development expenses to promote technology upgrades.

At the product level, JAC currently presents a pattern of “strong business taking advantage of weak business”.

At the Beijing Auto Show on September 26, Jianghuai Automobile released its new passenger car brand Sihao and launched its first model Sihao X8. The new car uses the same car logo as the Sihao E20X jointly produced by JAC Volkswagen. According to JAC Motors, the JAC Sihao passenger car is based on the Volkswagen MQB platform.
