3. The predecessor of the college was the Yunnan Sericulture School founded in 1904. After the founding of New China, it was renamed Kunming Agricultural Technical School, and in 1958 it was separated and established as Yunnan Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School. In 1962, Kunming Agricultural Technical School was renamed Yunnan Agricultural School. In 2002, with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, Yunnan Agricultural School and Yunnan Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School merged to form Yunnan Agricultural Vocational and Technical College.
