Jinan Railway Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1951. The school name is Jinan Railway Management Bureau Intermediate Technical School and Jinan Railway Mechanical School. From 1958 to 1963, it was upgraded to Jinan Railway College. In 1980, it was announced as one of the first batch of national key technical secondary schools. In 2000, the Shandong Provincial People's Government approved the transformation of Jinan Railway Mechanical School into Jinan Railway Vocational and Technical College.
