The School of Food Science and Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology was founded in December 2005, formerly known as the Institute of Food Science and Genetic Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology.
The college consists of the Department of Food Science, the Department of Food Engineering, the Department of Biochemical Engineering, the Food Safety Research Center, and the Sino-French International Dairy Science and Technology Laboratory (HIT-INRA). The National Light Industry Beet Sugar Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, the Heilongjiang Provincial Sugar Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Station, and the National Beet Sugar Industry Standardization Center are affiliated with our institute. In December 2005, the "Sino-French Dairy Institute" was jointly established with the institute as the main body and the French National Institute of Agricultural Sciences. "Chinese Beet Sugar Industry", edited and published by our institute, is the only Chinese core science and technology journal of the beet sugar industry in my country that is published to the outside world. "Bioinformatics" is a Chinese core science and technology journal that has been published to the outside world since 2004.
The college *** has 39 faculty members, including 4 professors and 3 doctoral supervisors. 48% of the teachers have doctorate degrees, and 35% of the young teachers with master's degrees are PhD candidates. There is one overseas part-time doctoral supervisor (Ireland), three overseas part-time professors (USA, Taiwan, Japan), and one domestic part-time professor.
The college has now formed a multi-level education system for undergraduate and postgraduate training. Starting from 2004, the first-level doctoral program in Chemical Engineering and Technology has been recruiting doctoral and master's students in the major of biochemical engineering. In 2005, undergraduate students in the major of food science and engineering will be recruited. In 2007, master's students in the major of food science will be recruited.
The college is responsible for a number of scientific research projects such as the national “863” plan, national science and technology research, science and technology projects of the Ministry of Agriculture, provincial and municipal key research plans and funds, etc., and is also responsible for horizontal research between enterprises and departments. projects and many other international cooperation projects. Research areas include food safety and quality control, food safety standardization research, milk and dairy product theory and technology, modern agricultural product processing technology, equipment and quality, separation and purification technology of natural bioactive ingredients, development of functional foods and new food resources and utilization, biological reaction process control and bioreactor design, food fermentation technology and engineering, food biotechnology, and research on basic theories of food science.
Since its establishment, the college has adhered to the idea of ??running a high starting point and international education. In just two years, it has cooperated with internationally renowned universities and research institutions such as the French Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Canadian J.R. Laboratory, and the Rennes Agricultural College in France. The institution has established extensive teaching and research cooperation relationships. Since 2005, the college has been jointly cultivating doctoral students in the dairy industry with the French Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and jointly cultivating master's degree students in dairy and food biotechnology with the Rennes Agricultural College in France. The School of Food Science and Engineering attaches great importance to scientific research. Since its establishment in 2003, *** has undertaken and completed 2 national “Tenth Five-Year Plan” scientific and technological projects, 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, and the national “863 ” plan, 2 special technology development research projects of scientific research institutes of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 1 Chunhui Plan of the Ministry of Education, 29 major and key provincial and municipal research projects, fund projects and other projects, and completed the formulation of more than 10 industry and local standards Work. It has jointly carried out research on pesticide multi-residue rapid detection technology with Canada's JR Experiment, and has conducted in-depth cooperative research with the French National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INRA) in dairy processing technology, dairy biotechnology, dairy microorganisms, etc.
