Essential skills for statistical analysis of data in Excel: Pivot Chart

In the previous issue, I introduced the use of pivot tables using the patent information statistical process as an example.

In this issue, we will continue to explain data perspective charts to you.

It directly displays the key data information in the form of charts. Its visual representation makes it easier for users to view, compare and analyze data.

Statistics on the patent distribution of each Base in each status

Select the data area with the left mouse button, click the "Insert" menu in the menu bar, and click "Pivot Data" under the "Chart" tab Chart" to open the Create PivotChart window.

Choose where to place the PivotChart.

If you select "New Worksheet", a new sheet (Sheet) will be created to place the PivotTable;

If you select "Existing Worksheet", you need to create a new worksheet in the current form. Select a specific location.

Drag Base into the "Axis (Category)" field, drag Status into the "Legend (Series)" field, drag "No." into the "Value" field, and modify it in the value field settings The calculation type is: count.

When you create a PivotChart, a PivotTable is automatically created.

(1) Change the chart style in the "Design" menu or the "Chart Style" on the right side of the chart.

(2) Adjust the chart elements on the right side of the chart: if you check "Data Table", you can display the data table below the chart; if you check "Chart Title", you can add a title bar.

(3) Filter the "Axis (Category)" field/"Legend (Series)" field in the chart to only display the chart part with specific options.
