Guizhou Academy of Sciences is a comprehensive natural science research institution directly under the Guizhou Provincial People's Government. It consists of seven research institutes, namely Guizhou Karst Resources Environment and Development Research Center (formerly Guizhou Mountain Resources Research Institute), Guizhou Biology Research Institute, Guizhou Physical and Chemical Testing and Analysis Research Center, Guizhou Metallurgical and Chemical Research Institute, Guizhou New Technology Research Institute, Guizhou Botanical Garden and Guizhou New Material R&D Base. A hospital-run company: Guizhou Kechuang Company; Four centers: Beike Biological Resources R&D Center of Guizhou Academy of Sciences, Guizhou Engineering Composite Materials Center, Guizhou Nano-materials Engineering Center, and National Composite Modified Polymer Materials Engineering Technology Research Center (the National Composite Modified Polymer Materials Engineering Technology Research Center is the National Engineering Center); Four bases: Longli Metallurgical and Chemical Experiment Base, Songtao Wuling Mountain Biodiversity Experiment Base, Guiyang Dongsen Plant Innovation Base and Guizhou Material Technology Innovation Base; Directly affiliated research laboratory: Guizhou Metallurgical Science Research Laboratory; Two ecological stations: Fanjingshan ecological positioning workstation and Caohai ecological workstation.

As one of the main scientific research bases in Guizhou Province, Guizhou Academy of Sciences has certain basic research, applied research and scientific and technological development capabilities, as well as interdisciplinary comprehensive scientific research advantages. Since the establishment of 1979, many disciplines and specialties in our college have formed their own characteristics and advantages, and developed some advanced scientific and technological achievements and high-tech products at home and abroad. The research fields involve mathematical science, biological science, environmental ecology science, engineering technology and materials science, metallurgy and chemical engineering, physical and chemical detection, computer application and information automation. During the four years from 2000/KLOC-0 to 2004, there were 306 new projects in our hospital, including 20 national projects such as National 863, 84 scientific and technological achievements and 2 authorized patents/KLOC-0. Edit and publish Guizhou Science, a comprehensive natural science periodical.

The technical development work of our institute has carried out fruitful work in promoting the combination of science and technology with economy. About 70% of the applied technical achievements in our hospital have been applied to varying degrees. Such as metal powder materials, nano-materials and composite modified polymer materials, etc., have developed a variety of products, computer application system control and management software has also been applied in many industries, and many research results and mature technologies have been achieved in bio-ecology and biotechnology.
