Xiangu, a point on the stomach meridian of Foot Yangming. The cave is sunken like a valley, hence its name. One of the five Shu points, this meridian is a Shu point, and the five elements belong to wood.
Location: On the dorsum of the foot, between the 2nd and 3rd metatarsals, in the depression proximal to the 2nd metatarsophalangeal joint.
Acupoint selection method: Lie on your back or sit upright, and select acupoints in the depression in front of the junction of the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal bones.
Anatomy: There is the second intermetatarsal muscle; there is the dorsal venous network; there is the medial cutaneous nerve of the dorsal foot.
Indications: 1. Digestive system disorders: epigastric pain, bowel borborygmus, bloating, abdominal pain, ascites, frequent burping, and persistent hiccups. 2. Symptoms of the head, face and eyes: swollen face, red and painful eyes, and weakness of the upper eyelids. 3. Other symptoms: swelling and pain on the dorsum of the feet, fever and inability to sweat, malaria, and hysteria.
Compatibility: 1. Xiangu with Xiaguan and Zhongliao to treat facial swelling. 2. Treat postpartum constipation with the help of sinking grain and period door. 3. Xinggu combined with Xiawan can treat abdominal distension and bowel sounds. 4. Xiangu combined with Neiting and Taichong can treat swollen ankles.
Acupuncture and moxibustion: straight or oblique 0.5 to 1 inch can be used for moxibustion.
