Patent of motorcycle practical line

Kawasaki automobile factory is currently actively developing three-wheeled motorcycles, and Polaris? The slingshot model will have positive market competition in the future. However, according to a patent application in Europe, the design of the three-wheeled motorcycle in Kawasaki Car Factory is also the first two rounds and the last one, but the main difference is that the frame designed by Kawasaki's mechanism will also tilt when turning, which is the biggest difference from the slingshot.

Compared with Yamaha and other tricycles? Nikken and Yamaha? Tricity or piaggio? MP3, a patented structure designed by Kawasaki, only tilts the frame and rear wheels when turning, and the first two steering wheels keep the tread in vertical contact with the ground when going straight. According to Kawasaki engineer's explanation in the document, tilting the body and rear wheels during cornering has nothing to do with the cornering performance of the vehicle, but to offset the force that the rider is pushed away by centrifugal force during cornering and still maintain the stability of the trunk during cornering.

The tilting mechanism of the frame is based on the connection with the forward steering lower arm as the main fulcrum. When the frame is inclined, gravity will act on the front shock absorber system on the inclined side, so adjusting the preload of the front shock absorber will change the inclination angle and characteristics of the frame when cornering.

The specifications of the front wheels are specified in the document. Compared with motorcycle tires with circular tread used in other tricycle models, the front wheel of Kawasaki heavy tricycle uses a flat ratio similar to that of car tires, because the steering system of this car will not be too big in corners.

Steering angle, so we need a tire shape similar to a car tire to provide proper grip.

The rear wheel is the driving wheel, and the power system adopts chain drive. The rear shock absorber is not detailed in this paper, and so is the power system. It is not clear whether to use the traditional internal combustion engine or electric motor system. The only certainty is that the engine device of Kawasaki tricycle is located behind the driver's seat and the passenger seat.

This patent application was first submitted for trial in Japan at the end of 20 18. However, judging from the completeness and maturity of the whole drawing, it is believed that it is only a patent designed by Kawasaki Automobile Factory for the front steering and shock absorption system of three-wheeled motorcycles, and there should be a long way to go before the actual prototype is built or even mass-produced.
