Shandong Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a provincial scientific research institution. It was formed by the merger of the former Shandong Provincial Institute of Biopharmaceuticals, Shandong Provincial Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry, and Shandong Provincial Medical Device Research Institute. It is based on the research of products related to human health. Shandong Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences has four research institutes: Shandong Institute of Biopharmaceuticals, Shandong Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry, Shandong Medical Device Research Institute, Shandong Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry and the National Sugar Engineering Technology Research Institute Center (cooperating unit), National Marine Pharmaceutical Engineering Technology Research Center (cooperating unit), Marine Biotechnology Research Institute.

The Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences has completed nearly a thousand scientific research achievements, and more than 100 achievements have won national, ministerial and provincial awards and invention patents. In particular, the research level on sodium hyaluronate has reached the international advanced and domestic leading level, and it has completed 5 monographs, more than 100 invention patents and more than 100 scientific research results on sodium hyaluronate. Won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award three times in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
