Principle of sludge conditioning with ferric sulfate and sodium thiosulfate
Iron hydroxide colloid generated by iron ion hydrolysis adsorbs sludge. Trivalent iron ions in sodium thiosulfate and ferric sulfate will hydrolyze to form ferric hydroxide colloid, which is easy to adsorb sludge and agglomerate, thus conditioning sludge to become clear. Ferric sulfate, molecular formula Fe2(SO4)3, molecular weight 399.86, grayish white or yellowish powder, easy to absorb moisture, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, and reddish brown in aqueous solution.
