Colette "gravity" pistol

In the late 20th century, Colette's "Gravity" pistol set off a wave of light weapons without casings around the world. Its ammunition is lighter and smaller, and it won't leave empty shells all over the ground after shooting, which not only saves materials but also protects the environment ... In fact, the history of guns without shells is not short, and Belgian gun designer Colette (1836- 1909).

In a period of light weapons reform, in order to improve the firing rate, weapons designers began to study fixed ammunition and revolver guns. The "gravity" pistol uses a pistol made by Fran? The lead bullet developed by ois-André Gopilla is like a small rocket. It has no shell, and there is a cavity behind the short body for containing primer and propellant, but it is not sealed.

"Gravity" pistol has a smooth-bore barrel with octagonal cross-section, and the caliber of the gun is 6mm, 8mm,10mm, or11.2mm. The first two kinds of small caliber are mainly used for personal self-defense, because the size of the gun can be reduced.

There is a tubular magazine above the barrel, which opens from the front. The shooter puts the bullets forward one by one, and can put 20 bullets. The breech part of the barrel can slide vertically upwards. When sliding upward, the breech aims at the back of the magazine. When the shooter raises the muzzle, a bullet will slide backwards into the breech under the action of gravity, and then the breech will be reset and fixed. Then aim and pull the trigger, and the hammer will hit the bottom of the bullet and launch it like a rocket.

The sales of "Gravitation" pistols are not very smooth, mainly producing some large-caliber versions, and the designers have also developed rifle versions. A longer magazine can hold more ammunition, about 60 rounds, but this is even more unreliable. Even if there is no power problem, how can a soldier run with it? Moreover, customized ammunition is gradually taking shape, and there are more guns to choose from on the market, so naturally, the "gravity" pistol is disdained.

This set of structure is simple and reliable, and the operation is not particularly complicated. At least it's much faster than a flintlock. Its biggest problem is that it can't provide too high firing pressure, and the power of bullets is much weaker than other firearms. Designer Colette also knows this, so he didn't expect to sell it to the military as military equipment, but to promote it as a relatively high-end private gun. These guns often have beautiful patterns and packaging boxes.
