Zhang Unify's Academic Achievements

Professor Zhang's research fields include mechanical properties of materials, micromechanics/nanomechanics, the relationship between microstructure and material properties, ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials, thin films, nanowires and nanotubes, microbridge/nanobridge experiments, diffusion and phase transition. Engaged in the study of mechanical properties of materials. The hydrogen embrittlement of steel under torsion and shear load is predicted and confirmed. The electrical boundary conditions on the surface of electrically insulating cracks are expounded, and piezoelectric linear and nonlinear fracture mechanics are developed. Experiments show that the electrical fracture toughness of conductive cracks is a material constant, and the theoretical framework of electrical fracture is constructed. Micro-nano mechanics is developed: the theory and method of micro-nano bridge testing and the critical thickness theory of dislocations, micro-nano twins and cracks in thin film/matrix system are established; The theoretical solution of the interaction between crack, corrosion film and dislocation in stress corrosion is given. He has won the second prize of National Natural Science Award, Hongkong Autumn Tea Senior Research Scholar Award, American ASM International Fellow Award and China Association for Science and Technology Youth Science and Technology Award twice.

As the first author and co-author, Professor Zhang published more than 40 SCI academic papers/KLOC-0. Many innovative achievements have been made in the fields of fracture mechanics, micromechanics, nanomechanics and hydrogen-induced cracking of materials, including two American patents and one national patent, two second prizes of national natural science (1987 and 2007), ASM International Fellow of the United States in 200 1 year, and Hong Kong Autumn Tea Senior Research Scholar Award in 2003.
