Hainan Vocational College of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai University of Science and Technology") is a private undergraduate vocational school headed by Hainan Provincial Department of Education. Established on the basis of Haikou Campus of Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2008, it was upgraded to the first batch of undergraduate higher vocational colleges in China in 20 18. It is a pilot college for undergraduate vocational education reform in Hainan Province.
The school has two campuses, namely Jiangdong Campus (Meilan Old Campus) and Yunlong Campus (New Campus), covering an area of 1092 mu. Meilan Campus is 4 kilometers away from Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, and Yunlong Campus is 9 kilometers away from Haikou meilan airport.

The school has 16 teaching units, including the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Chemistry and Materials Engineering, the School of Maritime Affairs, the School of Urban Construction, the School of Finance and Economics, the School of Design, the School of Health Sciences, the School of International Nursing, the School of Clinical Medicine, the School of Media and Music, the School of Accounting, the School of Business, the School of Public Education and the College of Basic Medicine.
Established a professional system focusing on applied chemical technology, navigation technology, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, and Internet of Things engineering technology, taking into account the coordinated development of medicine, management and other disciplines. There are 26 undergraduate majors and 48 specialist majors, which are closely linked with key industries such as Hainan oil and gas, high technology, Internet, medicine, medical care and health among the twelve leading industries in Hainan.
The college advocates the motto of being scientific, pragmatic, virtuous and innovative, takes the road of scientific development of "production, learning, research and application", takes the lead in opening up a dual-track teaching model in domestic universities, basically forms the teaching characteristics of promoting liberal arts practice with engineering majors, and is gradually developing into a distinctive and influential institution of higher learning in the province.
College promotes development through scientific research and takes the road of Industry-University-Research integration. In the first year of its establishment, the college applied for 8 patents, 6 scientific research projects, published 6 papers and 4 books, and the scientific research projects applying for patents achieved fruitful results.
