American Chemical Abstracts CA on CD(2002: 1-) I. Introduction to the database Chemical Abstracts is edited and published by China Academy of Sciences, which contains more than120,000 articles of literature index data of chemistry and applied chemistry in the world. CA adds about 500,000 documents and data every year. CA includes bibliographic data and CA index from printed version. From April, 1995, the American Chemical Abstracts Service began to add electronic documents. CA includes periodicals and conference documents. The retrieval path of CA includes general subject index, category index, CAS chemical registration number, CA abstract number, etc. This CD is updated once a month. This database belongs to LAN CD-ROM. For enquiries, please go to the electronic reading room on the third floor of Shaw Library. Second, the search method of CA on CD provides four basic search methods: index browsing, word search, material level, molecular formula search (molecular formula) 1. Index browse (1) In the retrieval menu window, click the browse command with the mouse or select the browse command in the search command menu to enter the index browse format retrieval. (2) The default value of the index field in the window is Word. Users can click the arrow in the index box to open the index menu and select the required index field. Index fields contain words (free words, including all searchable words that appear in document titles, abstracts, keyword lists, general topics, etc. ), CAS RN(CAS registration number), author (name of author and inventor), general theme (general theme), patent number (patent number), formula (molecular formula), compound (name of compound), CAN (abstract number of CA), institution (organization, group author, patent office), periodical (name of publication) and language (language of original document). (3) Enter the first few characters of the search word or use the mouse button to scroll the screen and position the cursor on the selected search word. (4) Click the search key or press enter to start the search. (5) In the index browsing window, you can combine editing/copying and editing/pasting to transfer the selected index entry to the entry retrieval window for retrieval. 2. Word search (1) combines search words, phrases, data, patent numbers, etc. By logical combination. (2) Click the search key or select the word search command in the search command menu. (3) Enter search words in the search word input box in the middle of the screen (words can be logically combined). (4) Select the field corresponding to the search word in the field setting box on the right. The default value is "words", and the relationship between words is selected in the option box on the left. The default value here is "and". (5) Set the position relationship of each search word in the document record (same document, same field or interval words, etc.). (6) Click the search key with the mouse to start the search. After retrieval, the retrieval result will appear on the screen, showing the title of the checked file. The system allows substitution of the character "?" Used to enter search terms. And the hyphen "*". Every "?" Represents a character, such as: Base? The search term can be Bases or based, and the "*" symbol in front indicates that the words are consistent. In addition, you can also enter a simple retrieval formula connected by OR groups, such as strength or toughness. 3. Material grade. The index of chemical substance grade names in CA on CD is basically the same as that in book-style chemical substance index, and it is searched according to the mother name of chemical substances, with various subheadings and substituents. (1) In the retrieval window, click the Subs button with the mouse or select the material level command from the search command menu, and the system will enter the retrieval window of the chemical substance level name, and the first-level name of the substance, that is, the index text of the parent compound name, will be displayed on the screen. The number of related literature records is given directly in the compound item, and there is no subordinate name; The "+"symbol appears before a substance with a lower name. Enter the name of the chemical substance you want to find in the Search box, and the cursor will quickly move to the location of the substance. (2) The user double-clicks the selected index to open the level index table layer by layer, and then double-clicks the material item with the mouse to search. After the retrieval, the screen gives the retrieval results of related documents. 4. Molecular Formula Search (1) This database provides an index of molecular formulas and substance name grades similar to printed CA. The names of substances with a large amount of documents are subdivided into a group of subheadings, and the index words without "+"are the final index words, which directly give the number of related documents; Index words marked with "+"include two or more levels of extended index words, which can be displayed by double-clicking or pressing Expand. (2) The molecular formula index is arranged from A to Z, and the retrieval process is similar to that of the compound level name. (3) Click the "Table" key, enter the molecular formula to be searched in the "Search" search box, and the cursor will quickly move to the location of the substance. If there is a "+"in front of it, double-click to open it, and then select the desired document. 5. After displaying the results by other retrieval methods (1), you can use the mouse to locate any word needed in all fields, and then double-click to retrieve the selected word in your own field. Or, after selection, select the search word selection command from the search menu, and the system will retrieve the selected item and display the hit result after retrieval. (2) If you want to select CAS registration number from records for retrieval, click the registration number to display its material record, or click NextLink in the record display window, and the cursor will appear at the first CAS registration number recorded, then click NextLink, and the cursor will move to the next CAS registration number, and display its material record with GotoLink. You can click on the CA index name in the material record to query the literature of the material name. Third, the search results are displayed and output (1). Double-click the selected document topic to get the complete record content. Click "Next" to browse the previous document, and click "Previous" to browse the previous document. (2) The documents of interest can be marked with the mark key or unmarked with the unmark key. When you need to save or print all the click results, click the "Mark All" button in the topic browsing state. (3) Click the Save button to save the current screen display; Click the SaveMk key in the topic browsing state to save the marked search results. (4) Click printMk to print the retrieval results of this tag, and click Print to print the current screen display.
