The Yellow Crane Tower Tunnel is the largest single-pipe double-decker urban highway tunnel in China, located in Wuchang District, Wuhan City, with the exit at Liu Yang Road. The south extension project of Heping Avenue is located in Wuchang District, Wuhan. It is the control project of Wuchang Shunjiang Passage, which starts from Heping Avenue in the north and ends at Zhangzhidong Road in the south. The total length of the line is 3042.5 meters, and the design speed is 60 km/h. The project is constructed in the form of "ground+tunnel", in which the Yellow Crane Tower tunnel is 2 190 meters long, and the shield section is excavated by Mir shield machine, with the excavation diameter of 16.03 meters and single pipe and double layers. The upper lane of the tunnel is from Jiyuqiao to Zhangzhidong Road, and the lower lane is from Zhangzhidong Road to Jiyuqiao. There are three lanes on each floor.
The south extension project of Heping Avenue was completed and opened to traffic, marking the opening of the "broken road" for many years.
