Can artificial intelligence replace lawyers?

In my opinion, lawyers cannot be completely replaced by artificial intelligence. For example, when it comes to non-linear thinking such as negotiation and brainstorming, lawyers must be used. Machines are good at standardization, while lawyers' work is very personalized and difficult to standardize. The lawyer's job is mainly to deal with people, involving communication, negotiation, judgment and other matters. Lawyers must face this complicated and changeable situation with creative legal thinking, consider various factors, weigh from multiple angles, find a suitable legal path, and help clients solve problems. This thinking process is more complicated, and artificial intelligence is still difficult to do. So artificial intelligence can't completely replace lawyers.

A person's experience, experience and thinking logic can't be replaced by machines now. Even if big data is perfect, artificial intelligence is our assistant at best, helping query, analysis, retrieval and other related work. As for the possibility of changing lawyers, it is still too far away. For artificial intelligence, the really difficult task may be that there are no standard answers to a large number of legal questions in reality. The answer to legal questions needs to be weighed in many aspects, such as interests, human feelings and opportunities, and needs to have the ability to truly understand the real society. This is not necessarily a simple job for an experienced lawyer, let alone a machine. Although some cases are similar, they are handled in different ways. They don't strictly follow the law, but give the law a proper temperature. Artificial intelligence certainly can't do this. Moreover, the core of artificial intelligence is to summarize based on existing experience, and it is difficult for it to make creative judgments on new problems and new situations. In all kinds of legal cases, besides computable logic and inductive experience, perseverance, belief, imagination and expressiveness may all be factors that affect the outcome of the case. These factors are only possessed by human lawyers, while artificial intelligence lawyers always have only cold calculation and induction.

A good lawyer should understand psychology, because psychology can help lawyers communicate with clients and balance the relationship with the people involved in the case. Lawyers should understand the meaning behind the client's language, which refers to the client's psychological state and tendency. In addition, lawyers should also balance the emotional and interest relationship with the client, the client's related personnel, the judge, the opposing party and their lawyers. In short, lawyers cannot deal with people without observing people and understanding and grasping human nature. However, artificial intelligence needs to be improved in understanding human expressions and language meanings, let alone understanding and grasping human nature.

The development of artificial intelligence will not replace lawyers, but artificial intelligence has advantages in risk management, process control and providing alternative legal services. Therefore, the legal service industry should embrace the Internet, make full use of artificial intelligence technology to solve the problem of insufficient legal service resources and meet people's growing demand for legal services. Lawyers should also play the role of artificial intelligence in resource integration and intensive development, solve monotonous and repetitive work and replace legal services with artificial intelligence, and devote their energy to providing high-quality legal services. Will artificial intelligence replace lawyers?

Will artificial intelligence replace lawyers?

Chen, Class 25, Senior Three.

In recent years, the development of artificial intelligence is in full swing, impacting various industries, and the traditional legal service industry is no exception.

As early as 20 1 1, an American technology company developed an artificial intelligence software to provide legal analysis services for customers, and analyzed millions of documents in just a few days. From 2065438 to May 2006, Ross, the world's first artificial intelligence lawyer, joined an American law firm to help handle bankruptcy-related affairs, which attracted widespread attention.

In China, the development of artificial intelligence is also very rapid. 20 16 10, the first domestic legal artificial intelligence "French puppy" was released without litigation, which realized intelligent case analysis and lawyer recommendation. Later, a number of legal artificial intelligence projects appeared, which were applied to intelligent question and answer, intelligent assistant for judges and other fields. In addition, the research of legal artificial intelligence is also deepening. Following the announcement at the end of 20 17 that a legal artificial intelligence laboratory was jointly established with the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University announced the establishment of a legal artificial intelligence laboratory on 20 18+0, aiming at establishing a first-class international and domestic integrated base of law and artificial intelligence in Industry-University-Research and providing intellectual support for the development of the legal and artificial intelligence industries.

All these make "whether artificial intelligence will replace lawyers" an increasingly important question. In the list of many occupations that may be replaced by artificial intelligence in the future, lawyers are often listed impressively, and they are called "high-risk" occupations that may be laid off in the future. So, will the profession of lawyer be replaced by artificial intelligence soon?

To solve this problem, the reporter interviewed Jiang Youyi, co-founder and CEO of Non-Litigation. In Jiang Youyi's view, it is difficult for artificial intelligence to completely replace lawyers. The characteristics of legal service itself mean that many of its contents have to be completed by people. Only pure information services that do not involve artificial services, such as simple consultation, can be completed through artificial intelligence.

Moreover, a recent article by American Public Radio also mentioned the view that although many industries are greatly influenced by artificial intelligence, lawyers are not greatly affected in the legal profession, and the possibility of being replaced by artificial intelligence is only 3.5%, but several other related legal posts are likely to be replaced by artificial intelligence in the next 20 years. This at least shows that the legal profession is reasonable in the future.

In my opinion, lawyers cannot be completely replaced by artificial intelligence. For example, when it comes to non-linear thinking such as negotiation and brainstorming, lawyers must be used.
