Can we meet during the investigation?

During the investigation, generally only lawyers are allowed to meet, and family members of criminal suspects are generally not allowed to meet. During the investigation, criminal suspects are not allowed to meet with their families, only lawyers can do so, and family members can only meet after the verdict takes effect.

Legal Basis

Article 34 of the "Criminal Procedure Law" stipulates that a criminal suspect has the right to entrust a defender. During the investigation, only lawyers can be entrusted as defenders. The defendant has the right to entrust a defender at any time.

Article 39 of the "Criminal Procedure Law" stipulates that defense lawyers may meet and communicate with criminal suspects and defendants in custody. Other defenders may also meet and communicate with criminal suspects and defendants in custody with the permission of the People's Court and People's Procuratorate.
