The Nanjing Intermediate Court found that Feng used many insulting remarks in his appeal brief submitted to the court in his dispute over the right to reputation with a Nanjing company, Lin and Sun.
The court found that these remarks all constituted insults to the judiciary and judicial staff, and obstructed the civil proceedings.
According to the Civil Procedure Law, if a participant in a lawsuit insults or slanders a judicial officer, the people's court may, depending on the severity of the case, impose a fine or detention, with fines of up to 100,000 yuan for individuals and detention of up to 15 days; those with serious cases are held criminally liable in accordance with the law. The court accordingly imposed the above penalties.
