The jurisdiction of the people's court mainly includes:
1. Directly accept the case of private prosecution and handle it according to the specific circumstances of the case, or decide to hold a trial, or persuade the private prosecutor to withdraw the private prosecution, or make a ruling to reject the private prosecution;
2. Have the right to review the cases prosecuted by the People's Procuratorate and hold court hearings on cases that meet the conditions for prosecution;
3. Have the right to make a judgment on the defendant's guilt or innocence, heavy or light crime, punishment or exemption according to facts and laws;
4. Have the right to make rulings or decisions on procedural issues and some substantive issues;
5. Have the right to hear and make decisions on cases that are subject to special procedures such as confiscation procedures and compulsory medical procedures.
To sum up, the people's court is the judicial organ of the state. Article 3 of the Criminal Procedure Law stipulates that the people's court shall be responsible for the trial. No one shall be found guilty without a judgment of the people's court according to law. It can be seen that the people's court is the only specialized organ that has the power to try and convict in criminal proceedings.
