Can people who have broken the law and been in jail still be police officers or lawyers?

People who have received criminal punishment (imprisonment) for illegal crimes cannot be police officers. If it is a negligent crime, you can become a lawyer. If you commit a crime intentionally, you cannot be a lawyer.

Article 26 of the People’s Police Law shall meet the following conditions:

(1) Persons over the age of 18;

(2) Support the Chinese People’s Republic of China The Constitution of the People's Republic of China;

(3) Have good political and professional qualities and good conduct;

(4) Be in good health;

(5) Have High school diploma or above;

(6) Volunteer to participate in people's police work.

Those who have any of the following circumstances are not allowed to serve as people's police:

(1) Those who have received criminal punishment for crimes;

(2) Those who have been dismissed from public service .

Article 7 of the "Lawyers Law" If the applicant has any of the following circumstances, a lawyer's practicing certificate will not be issued:

(1) No capacity for civil conduct or limited capacity for civil conduct;

(2) Those who have been criminally punished, except for negligent crimes;

(3) Those who have been dismissed from public office or have their lawyer's practicing certificate revoked.
