The method of checking criminal records is as follows:

1. The files can be viewed. Personal criminal records are personal privacy and are not open to any public. Only employees hired by the unit can be viewed in their personal files.

2. Go to the public security agency where your household registration is located. Ordinary citizens are not allowed to inquire about other people's criminal record information at will. If it is really necessary to inquire about other people's criminal information, relevant written materials should be provided in accordance with the requirements of the information management agency, and relevant criminal records can be inquired after review and approval. Citizens cannot check criminal records on the public Internet because the public security intranet and the public network are physically separated. The public security intranet only has internal staff of the public security agency, who need permission to query due to their work needs. Citizens cannot log in to the police;

3. Lawyers or other professionals, with the authorization of the client, can go to the client’s place of residence with relevant certificates to inquire about criminal records; lawyer practicing interns and paralegal assistants who have not obtained a lawyer’s practicing certificate , citizens’ criminal records may not be independently inquired.

Legal basis: Article 23 of the "Implementation Measures of the Archives Law of the People's Republic of China".

The publication of state-owned archives shall be handled in accordance with the following regulations:

(1) If stored in the archives, they shall be published by the archives; when necessary, the archives forming unit shall obtain the consent Or it shall be published after approval by the superior competent department of the archival forming unit.

(2) If stored in the archives of each unit, it shall be announced by each unit; when necessary, it shall be reported to the superior competent department for approval and then announced.

(3) Units and individuals that use state-owned archives have no right to publish archives without the consent of the archives or archives storage unit or the authorization or approval of the competent authorities listed in the preceding two paragraphs.

When collectively owned files, individually owned files and other files that are not owned by the state and have preservation value for the country and society are released to the public, their owners shall abide by the relevant state confidentiality regulations and shall not damage The interests of the country, society, collectives and other citizens.
