Lawyers should be held accountable for their faults and compensated.

Legal analysis: first, the scope of compensation for lawyers' fault liability:

1. The lawyer accepts the entrusted agent and should appear in court without justifiable reasons;

2. Delaying the limitation of action due to the fault of the lawyer;

3. The important evidence provided by the parties is lost due to the negligence of the lawyer;

4. The lawyer's illegal practice causes losses to the parties.

Second, the amount of compensation for the lawyer's fault liability:

1. If the lawyer accepts the entrusted agency and fails to appear in court without justifiable reasons, double indemnity, who has received the entrusted agency fee according to the case, shall return it to the client;

2. For the matters entrusted by the parties, if the limitation of action is delayed due to the negligence of the lawyer, five times the agency fee shall be charged according to the case to compensate the parties;

3. If the lawyer negligently loses the important evidence provided by the client and causes economic losses to the client, he shall refund all the agency fees of the case and compensate for the direct economic losses.

Legal basis: Article 54 of the Lawyers Law of People's Republic of China (PRC). If a lawyer practices illegally or causes losses to his client due to his fault, his law firm shall be liable for compensation. After making compensation, a law firm may claim compensation from a lawyer who has committed intentional or gross negligence.
