1. Parents or guardians agree to permit (the Buddhist system is flexible), and bring the written materials agreed by parents, ID card, household registration certificate (issued by the police station) and physical examination certificate (not required in some places) to the temple you think is predestined friends.
2. The limbs are complete (Buddhism). Short hands and feet, twisted hands and feet, paralysis, polio patients, leprosy patients, crooked heads, etc. People who can't walk normally can't be banned from becoming monks. )
3. Correct the five senses (Buddhism). Blind, cross-eyed, deaf, deaf, crooked mouth, rabbit mouth or missing mouth, mute, etc. , are not allowed to become a monk. )
4. Not infected with serious infectious diseases (Buddhism, you can become a monk when you are in good health). (such as AIDS, various skin diseases, etc. ). But this is not the case with colds. )
5. People who have no debt problems (Buddhism, paying off debts can become monks). (such as bankruptcy, business failure and debt. )

(Buddhism is subject to great precepts at the age of 20, and can become a monk under the age of 20. There is no upper limit on the age of becoming a monk. The Buddha was only 120 years old when he was alive. But at least you must be able to take care of yourself and have the ability to learn and obey the precepts, otherwise you are not allowed to become a monk. )
8. Sound mind (Buddhism, you can become a monk after illness). (refers to diseases that will lose consciousness, reason and behavior without any mental illness, such as neurasthenia, schizophrenia and epilepsy. )

(2) Provisions on the measures for the implementation of the official record system for Buddhist monks in the Han Dynasty throughout the country.
People who want to become monks must be voluntary, hexapod (including no physical defects), healthy, devout Buddhist, patriotic and law-abiding (including no legal disputes), permitted by their parents, and have no marriage and love relationship. For those who want to become monks, the temple finds out their identity and origin and determines that they meet the requirements for becoming monks. After more than one year's investigation, he passed the examination (things to be done in the examination stage: reciting the Five Classics, [non-Buddhists] learning the rules of Misha [Buddhists] and learning the basic knowledge of Buddhism). They can worship a bhikkhu, and the woman worships the bhikkhuni as a hairdresser, and regularly hold a shaving ceremony in front of the Buddha, that is, shave off the beard as a monk. [Non-Buddhist] The common surname is changed to a teacher, and the mage takes a dharma name and a dharma number according to their respective teachings. And send it to the calendar as required. Then, after a short period of study, I asked for the Ten Commandments, which are called Misha or Shamini. Misha is translated according to the pronunciation of ancient India, which means "stop evil and do good". Those who have obtained the qualification of Misha or Shamini are monks or candidates for monks.
(3) For the academic requirements of becoming a monk, it is not a university degree that many people say. The state does not stipulate that there are (only monks who are abbots require junior high school education or above, but the requirements are not too strict), and local governments make them according to their actual conditions (in the Chengdu Bureau of Religious Affairs, it is now stipulated that there are high school education, and many of them are actually monks with primary school education). (non-Buddhist)
The above, except marked as [Buddhism], are not Buddhism. It is based on the fact that in the Collection of Four Laws, Misha, who is not allowed to read the Four Laws, is not allowed to read the four laws, so the specific sources of classics are not listed. The above [Buddhist system] is not comprehensive enough, but I hope it will help those who want to know how to become a monk.
Attachment: Conditions for becoming a monk
To become a monk, you must first become a monk. Can anyone become a monk? It is not impossible to proceed from the compassion of the Buddha, but there are certain requirements for the purity of the monk group, for avoiding social ridicule, for being able to walk the streets, spread Buddhism and benefit students after becoming a monk. These situations are called difficult to cover in the precepts, and you must ask difficult questions before becoming a monk. Its content list is summarized as follows:
1, serious crime
A dirty nun (at home, once raped a clean monk)
Border crime (once becoming a monk, breaking the fundamental precepts)
Thieves live (used to pretend to be monks, steal commandments, accept support, etc.) )
Five inverses (killing father, killing mother, killing arhat, breaking monk, bleeding Buddha)
2. Not human
Non-human (ghosts and gods become people)
Beast (dragon becomes man)
3, physical weakness or physical defects
Yellow door (male root defect)
Dimorphic (having both male and female roots)
Get sick, ie suffer from epilepsy, etc. )
Non-husband (person who can't stand suffering)
4. Conditions are not available
Unqualified age (under seven years old or over seventy years old)
One who has no robe (one who has no cassock or one who has no bowl)
5. Mental retardation
People who don't know their names.
I don't know the name of the monk.
Break the internal and external Taoism (people who are uncertain about external Taoism and Buddhism)
6, family and society are not allowed.
Parents don't allow it
be in debt
Officials (important national army and political personnel)
Slave girl
Nineteen kinds of people in the above six categories do not have the conditions to become monks and ordained.
The first kind of people belong to felony: such as dirty Nepal, border crime and thief living, all because they have committed unforgivable heinous crimes in the monk group. They have done great harm to Buddhism, made monks lose their purity, committed heinous crimes, and were once driven out of the group of monks, so they can no longer be accepted as monks. Unfortunately, in today's teaching world, for reasons that people are well aware of, some people have gone secular without quitting. It is allowed to quit and return to customs, but if you don't quit, even among monks, you will live a husband-and-wife life, which is a border crime.
In recent years, due to the implementation of religious policies, many people have returned to the group of monks and reappeared the appearance of monks, so the saying of practicing precepts has become popular in the teaching world. In the trial, there are only precepts and precepts. If you are forbidden to become a monk, you can't stick to it, or envy the secular life and want to leave the monk group. Just quit, and then you can ban it if you want to become a monk. This can be repeated seven times. There is no such thing as "practicing precepts" in law. Now, maybe it's for the word "breaking the precepts". It should be noted that breaking the precepts generally refers to breaking the fundamental precepts. If you break the fundamental precepts, you will be disqualified from becoming a monk forever, just like a bowl falling to the ground and breaking into pieces. How can you make it up again?
Some people think that when they set a precept, they will show their virtue, accept support, worship and become monks first, and have no shame. According to the precepts, there are two main ways for monks who break the fundamental precepts: one is to leave the monk group forever, which means those who can't repent and turn over a new leaf after breaking the precepts; Second, learn to regret the monks in the monk group, that is, there is a monk's name but no monk's reality, but they can't get all the benefits of the monk group and can only serve the public wholeheartedly. This is convenient for people who repent. Now people have broken the precepts, do not repent, and pretend to be virtuous. Let's just say that the standard thief lives in a monk.
Five inversions, nowadays people can only commit two kinds of killing their father and mother, which are not found in the Buddhist world, so it is impossible to shed Buddha's blood. There are two kinds of broken monks: one is a broken karma monk, and the other is a broken law monk. You must have more than eight monks or nuns to break the karma monk; There must be more than nine people, one of whom calls himself a Buddha, to break the Dharma monk. In the history of Indian Buddhism, there is only one case of a broken monk, the Buddha. At the end of the law, it is difficult to have an arhat. It's not easy to kill him if you want it.
The second category does not belong to humans. It is recorded in the Collection of Four Laws that the Dragon King admired the clean life of Master Shaman, and now he is a teenager, becoming a monk in a monk group, and later showing his true colors in his sleep. The monks reflected this to the Buddha, who said, "Animals have no long-term interests in our laws. If they are not monks, they are not bound by the precepts of becoming monks. If you have become a monk and have been disciplined, you should refuse. "
The third category is people who are physically weak or have physical defects:
Suffering from serious diseases: including chronic diseases, such as schizophrenia, chronic hepatitis, cancer, heart disease, AIDS, diabetes and other incurable diseases.
2, physical weakness: the law says: no cold, no heat, no wind, no rain, no hunger, no thirst, no precepts, no food, no evil words, no poisonous insects. This means that people who can't bear hardships can't become monks.
3. Physical defects: There are two kinds of yellow doors and two kinds of shapes. There are more than 140 kinds listed in "Four Notes with Money". From the eyes, ears, tongue, body, hair, head, color, mouth, appearance, patients and so on. It shows that anyone with physical disabilities, physical defects and abnormal facial features can't become a monk.
The fourth age condition does not exist: the minimum age for becoming a monk begins at the age of seven, and those under the age of seven who cannot drive Wu away are not allowed to become monks, and those under the age of 70 who need the care of others are not allowed to become monks. Because people who are too old and too young can't take care of themselves, how can they talk about practicing? For example, as recorded in Yang Digging Sutra, Yang Digging Moro's old mother asked to become a monk, but the Buddha advised her: "You are old this year, and the year of becoming a monk has passed, but you should be confident and stop it by law." It is also recorded in the Four Points Method that the Buddha's father, Sudoku King, asked to become a monk, and the Buddha said to him, "Only the impermanence is enough to get the Tao, so you don't have to become a monk." From these examples, it seems that becoming a monk is a time when you need to be young and strong, not when you are old, weak and sick.
The fifth category is people with poor intelligence. There are two kinds of inferior intelligence. First, you are too stupid to remember your own name and the name of the monk. Second, there is no definite view, I can't tell right from wrong, and I believe this and that for a while, which is capricious. Buddhism is an enlightened religion, based on wisdom, and then you can practice by listening to Buddhism. Such a stupid person can't get any enlightenment in Buddhism, so he can't become a monk.
The sixth category is because family and society do not allow it. Parents are kind to their children and must let them become monks; Debtors need to pay off their debts before they can become monks, because they owe others debts; Handmaiden is the property of the master, and you can't become a monk with the master's consent; State military and political personnel in charge of national security cannot become monks without going through the formalities of leaving their posts. From this perspective, when we accept a person to become a monk, we should examine his birth, family status and social relations so as not to cause unnecessary right and wrong.
To become a monk, Buddhist monks and nuns must undergo strict examination in the above six aspects. Now, according to the "three altars" edited by lawyer Yue Yue, although it is difficult to cover up, it is only a form. If this level is not handled properly, it will inevitably lead to chaos in Buddhism. The author now expounds the "conditions for becoming a monk" in order to attract the attention of major virtues and Buddhist circles.

Although, as mentioned above, becoming a monk has to undergo strict examination in the above six aspects. But now, many great men are monks and Buddhists in Long Shao, and the restrictions on becoming monks have been reduced a lot. It provides great convenience for people who want to become monks.
