Hunan Traffic Engineering Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive, full-time public college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school was founded in 195 1, with a long history and brilliant achievements. Formerly known as Hengyang Railway Engineering School, a national key technical secondary school, Hengyang Railway Transportation Senior Technical School retains the level of senior technicians. With a beautiful environment and evergreen seasons, the college is a "garden-style unit", "top 100 civilized and hygienic units" and "national advanced vocational education unit" in Hunan Province. Known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of the railway.
Hunan Traffic Engineering Vocational and Technical College enrolls students from 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, with more than 4,000 students and 4,000 correspondence students in colleges and universities, and sends more than 60,000 trainers to railway field units every year. There are 206 full-time teachers, including 64 associate professors (senior lecturers) and 25 graduate students. "Double-qualified" teachers 106, including national registered architects, structural engineers, cost engineers, geotechnical engineers, supervision engineers, economists, accountants, lawyers, etc.
More than 30 people have served as executive directors or academic leaders in academic groups at or above the provincial and ministerial levels. The college has eight teaching departments, including railway engineering technology, urban rail transit engineering technology, road and bridge engineering technology, architectural engineering technology, architectural decoration engineering technology, water supply and drainage engineering technology, architectural design technology (architecture), engineering cost, computer application technology, computer network technology, computer multimedia technology, e-commerce, foreign-related tourism, applied English, secretarial, railway communication signals, communication technology, and railway traffic operation management. There are 19 higher vocational majors such as numerical control technology, and more than 10 secondary vocational majors such as railway engineering, roads and bridges, architectural engineering, railway signals, railway transportation management, numerical control technology, computer applications, computer networks, secretaries and tour guides (see the table below).
It is the main base for the Ministry of Railways to train construction engineering professionals in Central and South China, and has been training talents for Hong Kong Underground Railway Company and Hong Kong Kowloon-Canton Railway Company.
The college implements a scholarship system, and students with excellent academic performance and conduct can get a reward of 400- 1000 yuan per academic year, with a reward ratio of 30%-50%. The "student mode" college gave them the opportunity to study abroad. Some poor students can apply for national student loans according to the policy. In addition, the college also provides appropriate financial assistance and opportunities for work-study programs for poor students, and students can also solve their financial difficulties by means of work-study programs and paid internships on the premise of completing credits.

The graduates of our college have been in short supply, and the employment rate of graduates for many years has reached 98%. In 2003, the College was awarded the "Advanced School of Vocational Guidance in National Vocational and Technical Schools" by the Ministry of Education, and in 2005, the College was selected as the "Advanced Unit of National Vocational Education" by seven ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Education.
