In criminal trials, the number of family members of the defendant is generally unlimited. For cases with great influence and wide coverage, there may be many people attending, and the court will use side hearings to control the attendance. Family members who attend the trial can't talk. If the victim can testify in court, there is still time for trial.
Article 10 of the Supreme People's Court's Regulations on Strict Implementation of the Public Trial System stipulates that,
When a case is tried in public according to law, all citizens can attend except the mentally ill, drunken people and minors without the permission of the people's court. According to the location of the court session and the number of observers, if the observers need to bring a side hearing into the court, the people's court will hold a side hearing.
Foreigners and stateless persons who hold valid certificates to attend the audit shall be handled with reference to the provisions of China citizens to attend the audit. Observers must abide by the Rules of the People's Court of People's Republic of China (PRC) and accept security inspection.
