Huanggang is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province. It is located in the east of Hubei Province, at the southern foot of Dabie Mountain, on the north bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and in the middle section of Beijing-Kowloon Railway. It is one of the member cities of Wuhan City Circle, facing Ezhou, Huangshi and Jiujiang across the river in the south, Anhui in the east and Henan in the north.
By the end of 20 12, Huanggang now governs 7 counties and 2 cities 1 district, 127 township streets and 4,290 administrative villages, with a land area of17,453 square kilometers. According to the statistics of Huanggang Public Security Bureau, in 20 13 years, the registered population of the whole city was 750 1522.
