How long can I see a lawyer when I am criminally detained on suspicion of a major case?

The general period of criminal detention is 14 days, counting from entering the detention center. The investigation organ shall report to the procuratorate for approval of arrest within 14 days, of which the time for approval of arrest by the procuratorate is 7 days, which is included in 14 days. If approved, arrest will be carried out, otherwise compulsory measures will be lifted or changed. If the case is very complicated, with the approval of the procurator-general, the period of criminal detention can be extended, that is, 37 days. Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Law stipulates that a criminal suspect may hire a lawyer to provide him with legal advice, charge and appeal on his behalf after being interrogated for the first time by the investigation organ or from the date when compulsory measures are taken (compulsory measures here include criminal detention). If a criminal suspect is arrested, he may ask for bail pending trial.
