What happened when the car was dragged onto the street with spray-painted words?

On March 17, multiple videos of smashing a Lexus were frequently forwarded on WeChat Moments. In the video, a Lexus vehicle with a Nanjing license plate was first trampled in the parking lot and severely damaged. The car was then forcibly dragged onto the road, causing all four tires to be destroyed and half of the wheel to be worn away.

On March 17, some media contacted the owner. The owner said it was a family dispute and refused to be interviewed. A lawyer said in an interview with the media that the car causing the accident has been suspected of criminal offenses.

After inquiry, it was found that the price of the destroyed vehicle was around 300,000-400,000. Relevant professionals said that judging from the damage to the car seen in the video, the repair cost would be at least tens of thousands of yuan.

The so-called crime of intentional destruction of property refers to behavior that intentionally destroys or damages public or private property, involving a relatively large amount or other serious circumstances. According to Article 275 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, whoever intentionally destroys public or private property, if the amount is relatively large or there are other serious circumstances, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, or a fine. Anyone who intentionally destroys public or private property, involving a huge amount or having other particularly serious circumstances shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than seven years.

Of course, if the car owner refuses to investigate or does not know the person involved, the person involved can have the criminal penalty reduced or exempted.
