What punishment does China's criminal law provide for not reporting information about criminal suspects?

It is not illegal not to report.

1. According to the provisions of Article 310 of the Criminal Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), anyone who knowingly provides assistance to criminals or perjures them shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance; If the circumstances are serious, they shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years. This is the case of "hiding, harboring a criminal suspect or helping him escape" in the reward notice, but obviously, the crime of harboring and sheltering does not include the case of not reporting.

2. According to Article 63 of the Criminal Procedure Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), any citizen can immediately hand over to a public security organ, a people's procuratorate or a people's court for handling a person who is committing a crime or who is found immediately after committing a crime, a wanted person, a person who escaped from prison or a person who is being pursued. It can be seen that this provision gives citizens the right to commit crimes, rather than stipulating that citizens have this obligation.

3. There are legal provisions on illegal acts and crimes of knowingly failing to report, but only within the scope of refusing to provide evidence of espionage. According to Article 311 of the Criminal Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), when the state security organ investigates the situation and collects relevant evidence, it refuses to provide evidence knowing that it is espionage. If the circumstances are serious, it shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance.

Therefore, knowing that failure to report is not a crime cannot be punished according to law. This is just a question of civic morality. Regarding obligations, there is no relevant law that stipulates that citizens must fulfill their obligations.
