Lawyers have a high status in Indian society and play an important role. Many Indian leaders, including Gandhi, the father of India, have been lawyers.
At present, the chairman of the Indian Bar Association was the chairman of the International Bar Association (IBA), and several vice-chairmen have served as legal advisers to the chairman, or have been or will be the chairmen of international lawyers' organizations (including the International Bar Association, the Asia-Pacific Bar Association and the Pacific Bar Association), and they are highly respected in Indian political and legal circles.
Indian lawyer qualification:
In India, it is relatively easy to qualify as a lawyer. All law school graduates can apply to the BARCOUNCIL of India, which can issue a lawyer's license after investigating that the applicant has no misconduct or criminal record. The license is life-long and can be implemented throughout India without annual registration.
The Bar Association is a quasi-government organization, which is responsible for issuing lawyers' licenses and complaining to lawyers. India has a special lawyer law, which stipulates the qualifications of lawyers and the functions of lawyers' associations.
