How do people's courts in China classify and at what administrative level are they? Is the Supreme People's Court the same as the Higher People's Court?

China's court system is divided into four levels: 1 the Supreme People's Court has only one level.

One for each province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government.

Each prefecture-level city has an intermediate people's court, and there are several municipalities directly under the central government, including maritime courts and railway courts.

One for each county-level unit in the grass-roots people's court.

The president of the court is equivalent to the deputy of the head of government at the same level. For example, the president of the provincial higher people's court is equivalent to the deputy ministerial level, and the intermediate people's court is equivalent to the deputy departmental level.
