The relationship between Dali Temple and the Ministry of Punishment

In the early Song Dynasty, the Ministry of Justice was one of the highest judicial institutions, responsible for the country's criminal administration, hearing and pursuing cases against Dali Temple.

In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Ministry of Punishment, the Metropolitan Procuratorate, and the Dali Temple were the three divisions. If there are major cases, they will be tried jointly by the three legal ministries, commonly known as the "three-court joint trial"

The Penalties Department is responsible for the country's penal laws. According to the fifty-third volume of "Guangxu Huidian", his duties are: "To be in charge of the world's criminal laws and regulations to praise all people. Where the laws are suitable, he will listen to the blessings of admission, suspend decisions, and the amount of fines and loans, and each department will be in charge. Shangshu The minister led his subordinates to discuss matters, and the big things were done, and the small things were done, so that the country was committed." This shows that the Ministry of Punishment accepts criminal cases across the country and is in charge of punishment, prison and other laws. However, if it is a death penalty case, it will be reviewed together with the Dali Temple and the Metropolitan Procuratorate. In August every year, cases reported from each province are reviewed and processed, which is called the "Autumn Trial". After the first Frost Trial, this case in Beijing was called the "Shen Chao Case." "Autumn Trial" and "Court Trial" will be held together with "Jiu Qing" (Liu Bu Shangshu, Zuodu Censor Advisor, General Political Envoy, and Dali Temple Commissioner are "Jiu Qing"), exhibition room, Tang Ke, Taoism (Six Bu The officials will review the matter together with the 15 supervisory recommendations). All cases involving female cousins ??must be heard jointly with the Ministry of Rites; cases involving Mongolian, Jehol and other domestic and foreign ethnic minorities will be heard by the same court. But they were all written by the Ministry of Punishment. If the clan or Jueluo commit crimes, they will be handled jointly by the Ministry of Punishment and the clan. The Zongshi case was written by Zong Renfu, and the Luo case was written by the Ministry of Punishment.

The responsibility of Dali Temple is to vindicate criminal cases across the country. It is the "Three Law Divisions" together with the Ministry of Punishment and the Metropolitan Procuratorate. All major cases that require investigation by the three judicial divisions (the crime of beheading and strangulation) are first reviewed by the Ministry of Punishments, sent to the Metropolitan Procuratorate for approval, and then sent to Dali Temple for approval.
