Persons with criminal records shall not engage in the following occupations:

2. Judicial system: including judges, prosecutors, people's jurors, clerks of people's courts, people's supervisors, police, lawyers, grassroots legal service personnel, notaries and forensic experts;

4. Company executives: directors, managers and other senior managers of the company and bankruptcy administrators of the enterprise;
5. Insurance and securities occupations: futures practitioners, risk managers of securities companies, actuaries, insurance salesmen, securities practitioners, auctioneers, and securities and futures investment consulting practitioners;
6. Other occupations: tour guide, production, sales, procurement, transportation, blasting personnel, registered construction engineer, registered safety engineer and registered surveyor of civil safety products.

Article 275 of the Criminal Procedure Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that if a person was under the age of 18 at the time of committing a crime and was sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years, the relevant criminal records shall be sealed.
If the criminal record is sealed, it shall not be provided to any unit or individual, except for the need of judicial organs to handle cases or the relevant units to make inquiries in accordance with state regulations. Units that inquire according to law shall keep the sealed criminal records confidential.
Different criminal records have different effects. For example, people with public security and criminal records, who have been criminally punished, cannot take the civil service examination, but those who have been punished for public security can. Those with "Lao Lai" records may be affected when handling credit and other businesses. Those who have a criminal record of drug abuse and drug trafficking may often be questioned by the police on duty. As long as they have not received criminal punishment, most units will not refuse employment on this ground.
