What are the taboos of criminal lawyers?

I remember when I was studying criminal law, Mr. Feng Ke once said:'' People who are under criminal law are suffering from the sufferings of all sentient beings, and they mourn the sorrow of all sentient beings. At that time, this sentence was neither clear nor meaningful to a novice. Criminal law, in the understanding of ordinary people, seems far away. As everyone knows, in this rolling world of mortals, no one can escape or hide. Criminal law is like a Damocles sword, hanging high above the heads of all beings, alerting the world and all beings at any time. There is a limit to the law, and it is too late to regret it.

Of course, ordinary people will not violate the criminal law, nor do they want to violate it. But human beings love to challenge themselves so much that they often inadvertently touch taboo places. I remember a case I handled. When my client met me at the detention center, he said,' I asked my lawyer, and he said my behavior was a gray area, so it doesn't matter. I don't know what kind of lawyer sent him such a message. Out of respect for my peers, I tried not to tear down the platform and answered him: you can't do anything wrong in black and white, but the most difficult thing in the world is gray. Can you tell what is gray and black and what is gray and white? When you are confused, you'd better honestly choose not to do it. You and I met here today and have answered this question. After hearing this, the parties bowed their heads and their expressions were full of regret.

Hate it for not making money, and anger it for being irregular. This may be the biggest problem for lawyers who do criminal cases. Of course, this may just be my personal feeling. Every time I meet a party who is indifferent to what he has done or has no remorse. Always feel angry, of course, I will control myself, I won't show it, and I won't explode. The only consequence is to scold yourself silently.

You're just working a case, but for the client, it's his life. I feel more and more deeply about this sentence. In China, both the traditional culture and the current social mechanism are still too harsh on citizens who have received criminal punishment. The requirements of some occupations are quite strict. Not only an individual, but even your parents can't have a criminal punishment record. Therefore, it is the highest goal of criminal lawyers to hope that the client can be lightened or mitigated in sentencing, or even exempted from criminal punishment, and the client is innocent.

Anyway, I want to be a criminal lawyer, or a lawyer whose main business is criminal. Three words, not easy. But criminal lawyers are indeed the most dazzling jewels in the crown of lawyers.
