According to the Regulations on Railway Safety Management:
Twenty-seventh railway lines should be set up on both sides of the railway line safety protection zone. The scope of railway line safety protection zone, from the toe of railway subgrade slope, the top of cutting slope or the outside of railway bridge (including railway and highway dual-purpose bridge, the same below), is:
(1) The urban high-speed railway is10m, and other railways are 8m;
(2) High-speed rail12m in suburban residential areas, and other railways10m;
(3) High-speed rail in rural residential areas 15m, other railways12m;
(4) The high-speed railway in other areas is 20m, and other railways15m.
Railway specification:
Where a railway line safety protection zone is demarcated within the scope of railway land, the railway supervision and administration institution shall organize the railway construction unit or railway transport enterprise to demarcate and announce it. Where a railway line safety protection zone is demarcated outside the scope of railway land, the local people's government at or above the county level shall, in accordance with the principle of ensuring the safety of railway transportation and saving land, organize the relevant railway supervision and administration institutions and the land and resources departments of the local people's government at or above the county level to demarcate and announce it.
Where the railway line safety protection zones overlap with highway construction control zones, river management zones, water conservancy project management protection zones, waterway protection zones or important facilities protection zones such as oil and electric power, the local people's governments at or above the county level shall organize relevant departments to negotiate and demarcate them in accordance with the provisions of laws and administrative regulations and make an announcement.
The scope of railway line safety protection zones for newly built or rebuilt railways shall be delineated and promulgated by the local people's governments at or above the county level in accordance with the provisions of these regulations within 30 days from the date of approval of the preliminary design of railway construction projects. The railway construction unit or railway transport enterprise shall demarcate the boundary according to the completion data of the project, draw the plan of the railway line safety protection area, and set up stakes according to the plan.
