In order to safeguard lawyers' professional reputation, comprehensively improve lawyers' moral level, standardize lawyers' practice behavior, and ensure lawyers to effectively perform their missions and responsibilities to society and the public, this Code is formulated in accordance with the Lawyers Law of People's Republic of China (PRC).
Chapter II Professional Ethics of Lawyers
1. Lawyers must persist in serving socialist economic construction, reform and opening up, socialist democracy and legal system construction, consolidate the people's democratic dictatorship and the long-term stability of the country, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of citizens.
2. Lawyers must abide by the Constitution, laws and regulations, adhere to the principle of "taking facts as the basis and law as the criterion" in all business activities, and perform their duties in strict accordance with the law.
3. Lawyers must be loyal to their duties, adhere to principles, not afraid of power, dare to eliminate illegal interference, and safeguard national legal system and social justice.
4. When providing legal aid to clients, lawyers must be enthusiastic, diligent, honest and conscientious, actively fulfill their obligation to provide legal aid to clients with financial difficulties, strive to meet the legitimate requirements of clients and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.
Lawyers and other legal service workers should respect each other, help each other in the same trade, compete fairly and improve their professional level.
6. Lawyers must be honest and self-disciplined, dedicated and diligent, rigorous and prudent, stress efficiency, pay attention to appearance, be polite to others, and consciously abide by the lawyer's practice rules and the articles of association of the Bar Association.
7. Lawyers should be loyal to the cause of lawyers, study hard and master the legal knowledge and service skills they should have in practice, pay attention to cultivating moral quality and professional accomplishment, and consciously safeguard the reputation of lawyers.
According to Article 24 of the Measures for the Administration of Lawyers' Practice, lawyers must abide by the Constitution and laws, and abide by lawyers' professional ethics and practice discipline. Lawyers' practice must be based on facts and take the law as the criterion. Lawyers' practice should be supervised by the state, society and the parties concerned. In addition, lawyers must pass the national judicial examination, otherwise they cannot obtain a lawyer's practice license.
The national lawyer qualification examination starts from 1986. The national qualification of lawyers has selected a large number of legal professionals for the lawyer industry in China, and many of them have become the backbone of the lawyer industry. In practice, they worked hard to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the parties and the correct implementation of the law, and made due contributions to the construction of democracy and legal system in China.
