Kong Ning Introduction to Kong Ning

She spent her childhood in the border city of Manzhouli. While working in the Procuratorate, she was supervised in the execution ground and witnessed 34 lives passing away in an instant, which changed the trajectory of her life. In her "Wrangler", 34 white shirts are always at the back of the carriage. The 34 young lives who died on the execution ground seem to be purified in these 34 clean shirts. Kong Ning carries them with him wherever he goes. Kong Ning itself is a symbol, a work, a gift from God. Instead, she qualified as a professional lawyer and set up her own law firm to defend prisoners. The experience of his parents' imprisonment and death is a lingering memory in Kong Ning's life. After his mother passed away, Kong Ning's life began another turning point: from poetry and novels, decorative arts, to architectural art, oil painting and film creation. After death, people are no longer naive, they know how to cherish and fight for.

In 2000, Kong Ning’s mother passed away. Kong Ning thought that his daughter's filial piety could move God and help his mother recover, but it backfired. Her mother's death was a huge blow to Kong Ning. She became desperate and depressed, so she committed suicide. The idea that the human body is so fragile and helpless reminded her of a scene she had experienced: the execution ground in the early 1980s, where 34 prisoners were shot instantly. She was stunned and awakened by the roar of gunfire. When she saw someone shoot another shot into the temple of the not-quite-dead prisoner, she fainted again. This bloody scene left a huge shadow in her heart. She resigned from public office because she was not qualified for the job of the prosecutor's office. In the late 1980s, she qualified as a lawyer and established a law firm.

After his mother passed away, Kong Ning could not extricate himself from the separation of life and death, and never accepted any lawsuits again. She lived alone in an empty house every day, recalling the time spent with her mother day and night, thinking about her voice, smile, and care for herself, and often burst into tears. This kind of sadness, helplessness, isolation, loneliness, and pain that cannot be confided to the outside world suddenly activated the "mutated cells" that were constantly gathering in Kong Ning's body. These "mutated cells" grew crazily at a geometric speed of light. So, one day, Kong Ning suddenly bought back the materials needed for painting. Incited by hallucinations, he put the first oil paint on the canvas and saw it. Kong Ning's nervous and broken spirit got some relief. She continued to apply, and the anxiety, loneliness, powerlessness, and helplessness in her heart began to disappear. She felt that she was cheerful, strong and dependent, and she began to understand that painting was the only way for her to save herself. From then on, she was out of control, letting all the suppressed emotions in her body erupt like a volcano, pouring out onto the canvas. (Excerpted from "Beijing Youth Daily") The experience of life has become the nourishment for her rich creations. She has an extremely sensitive nature and extremely high artistic talent. All her creations have become an outlet for spiritual life. Her death and love for life have become her A theme that continues to be expressed in creation. Whether at home or abroad, her career success has laid the financial foundation for her to get involved in multiple art categories and conduct comprehensive artistic creations. The infinite life energy in her heart is also looking for different forms of expression, telling, expressing, communicating, and looking for the relationship between struggle and reconciliation with the world, conflict and harmony, death and immortality, and the relationship between the individual and the universe.

Kong Ning has not received any training in painting skills. Her artistic feeling comes from her inner fantasy world. She never sketches on canvas, just works by feeling. She used carbon ink to draw thousands of sketches about the world in her imagination, including violence, killing, death, sex, love, loneliness, confusion, ambiguity, hope and expectation. Sometimes she would sit in one place all day long, using her pen to draw a whole book of hundreds of sketches in the alternation of light from light to dark, and from dark to light, all in one go without any modification. Kong Ning does installation art, writes poetry and drama. She expresses her passion through various art forms. People who know or do not know Kong Ning are amazed by her talent and sentiments when they see her sketches and oil paintings, are moved by her persistent pursuit of art, and are even moved by her love and memory for life and her mother.
