Can I change lawyers and meet at the detention center?

You can change lawyers.

In criminal cases, defense lawyers shall be entrusted by criminal suspects, defendants or their close relatives. If the client is dissatisfied with the entrusted defense lawyer, he may terminate the entrustment relationship and entrust another defense lawyer. In addition, the entrusted lawyer can still go to the detention center to meet the criminal suspect and defendant with the entrustment procedures, the letter of introduction from the law firm and his practice certificate.

Legal basis:

Article 32 of the Criminal Procedure Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) * * * A criminal suspect and defendant may entrust one or two persons as defenders in addition to exercising their right of defense. The following persons may be entrusted as defenders:

(1) lawyers;

(2) A person recommended by a people's organization or the unit to which the criminal suspect or defendant belongs;

(3) Guardians, relatives and friends of criminal suspects and defendants.

A person who has been sentenced to punishment according to law or deprived of or restricted personal freedom shall not act as a defender.
