Relevant regulations
1996 the State Council Academic Degrees Committee Office approved eight universities including China Renmin University, Peking University University and China University of Political Science and Law to recruit the first batch of LLM graduates.
Since 2000, the entrance examination for master of law has been implemented nationwide, and no longer recruits law graduates (including equivalent academic qualifications), but only recruits illegal graduates with national education bachelor's degree (or equivalent academic qualifications).
In 2009, after the Master of Laws began to recruit candidates majoring in law, the Master of Laws was classified according to the undergraduate majors of the candidates. The undergraduate course of illegal study applies for a master of law (illegal study), and the undergraduate course of law should apply for a master of law (law).
