The development of history
1958 On August 26th, the State Council approved the establishment of Maoming Industrial and Mining Zone, and on May 9th, 1959 established Maoming City. The towns of Gongguan, Meihua, Jintang, Xinpo, Gaoshan, Aotou, Zhensheng and Shan Ge in the south of Maoming County were successively assigned to Maoming City, and Maoming County was renamed Gaozhou County.
1983 implements the system of city governing county, 1985 establishes Maonan district, which belongs to Maoming city.
1996, Maonan District governs Hedong Street, Guandu Street, Outdoor Street, Hexi Street, Hongqi Street, Xinhua Street, Jintang Town, Guangong Town, Zhensheng Town, Aotou Town, Meihua Town, Gaoshan Town, Xinpo Town and Shan Ge Town.
In 2002, Maonan District governed seven streets of Hongqi, Hexi, Hedong, Xinhua, Guandu, Zhanqian and open pit mines, and eight towns of Shan Ge, Gaoshan, Meihua, Xinpo, Aotou, Zhensheng, Guangong and Jintang.
By the end of 2005, Maonan District had jurisdiction over seven streets of Hongqi, Hexi, Hedong, Xinhua, Guandu, Zhanqian and open pit mines, and eight towns of Jintang, Shan Ge, Gaoshan, Meihua, Xinpo, Aotou, Zhensheng and Guangong.
