If the case is complicated and the investigation cannot be concluded at the expiration of the time limit, it may be extended for two months with the approval or decision of the people's procuratorate of the province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government. In case of special reasons, the Supreme People's Procuratorate should report to the NPC Standing Committee for approval to postpone the trial.
Secondly, the general review and prosecution period can not exceed one and a half months. However, if the jurisdiction is changed, the time limit for examination and prosecution shall be calculated from the date when the changed procuratorate receives the case. If the procuratorate believes that the case needs to be returned for supplementary investigation, the time will be accumulated in turn.
Finally, in the trial of a public prosecution case, the general court should pronounce a sentence within two months after accepting it, not more than three months at the latest. Special circumstances can be extended again after approval.

208th Article of the Criminal Procedure Law After accepting a case of public prosecution, the people's court shall pronounce a judgment within two months, but not more than three months at the latest.
