Officialdom disputes are tried by Dali Temple, and court cases are sent to Zongrenyuan for trial. We can know that in the Western Zhou Dynasty, civil and criminal proceedings had been separated to a certain extent, and people began to attach importance to documentary evidence, personal evidence and material evidence, giving the parties the right of appeal. However, there are also some shortcomings, such as the separation of justice and administration, unequal litigation, extorting confessions by torture, divine judgment and resorting to punishment.
