Can a child be a lawyer when his father is in prison?

Legal analysis: Father's imprisonment will not affect children's becoming lawyers. The Lawyers Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) only stipulates that those who have been subjected to criminal punishment will not be issued with a lawyer's practice certificate, and there is no provision that no relatives are imprisoned and family members cannot be lawyers.

Legal basis: Article 8 of the Lawyers Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) has a bachelor's degree or above in an institution of higher learning, has been engaged in professional work in the field of shortage of legal service personnel for 15 years, has a senior professional title or equivalent professional level, and has corresponding professional legal knowledge. Those who apply for full-time lawyer practice are allowed to practice after passing the examination by the judicial administrative department of the State Council. Specific measures shall be formulated by the State Council.
