Lawyers have retirement age, which is a part of national social security, but their qualification as lawyers is reserved and they can act as agents ad litem.

Male employees retire at the age of 60, female cadres retire at the age of 55 and female employees retire at the age of 50.

The retirement age stipulated in the Interim Measures of the State Council on Resettlement of the Old, Weak, Sick and Disabled Cadres and the Interim Measures of the State Council on Retirement and Resignation of Workers (Guo Fa [1978] 104). That is, employees of enterprises and institutions owned by the whole people, party and government organs and mass organizations;

(a) men over 60 years of age, women over 50 years of age, and continuous service for ten years;

(2) Men who have reached the age of 55, women who have reached the age of 45, and have worked continuously for ten years, engaged in underground, high altitude, high temperature, particularly heavy manual labor or other jobs harmful to health;

(3) Men who have reached the age of 50 and women who have reached the age of 45 and have worked continuously for ten years are allowed to retire after being certified by the hospital and confirmed by the labor appraisal committee.
