Jinggu Map Jinggu is located in the central and western part of Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, a county between 100 02'-101 07' north latitude and 22° 49'-23° 52' . Jinggu was called "Mengwo" in ancient times. In Dai language, "Meng" means a place, and "Wo" means a well, which means a place with salt wells. It is a multi-ethnic autonomous county with Dai and Yi as autonomous ethnic groups. It is known as "Pearl in the Forest, Home of Fruits, and Holy Land of Buddhism". With a total area of ??7,550 square kilometers, it governs 8 townships: Zhongshan, Fengshan, Jinggu, Bianjiang, Banpo, Mengban, Bian, Yiyi and 4 towns: Weiyuan, Yongping, Zhengxing and Minle, and 132 village committees. There are 1,929 villager groups, 60,023 rural households, and a total population of 2,965,438 people. The minority population, mainly Dai and Yi, accounts for 46.3%. The county is inhabited by Han, Dai, Yi, Lahu, Hani, Hui, Bulang, Bai, Yao, Miao, Manchu, Pumi, Zhuang, Naxi, Wa, Gaoshan, Jing, Jinuo and Lisu ethnic groups.
